Winners of the 44th National Magazine Awards were revealed today, and The Walrus won a total of six awards for journalistic excellence during the virtual ceremony.
“These National Magazine Awards 2021 are the culmination of an unprecedented year for The Walrus, as our staff and contributors all adapted to new ways of working remotely, while responding to the disruptions of a global pandemic, and maintaining our commitment to journalistic excellence,” said editor-in-chief Jessica Johnson. “While the work itself is the success, this recognition is a reminder of the value of our work to a community, for which we are grateful.”
The Walrus was the top finalist at the 2021 National Magazine Awards, with 22 nominations in total. The six wins at the Awards follows recognition for the publication at the Digital Publishing Awards, which were announced earlier today. As a non-profit organization, The Walrus is grateful to the subscribers, donors, partners and supporters who make it possible to work with stellar writers, artists and contributors who help create fact-based and relevant journalism.
