Amazon Canada First Novel Award: Adult Novel Category

The winner of the Adult Novel Category will receive $60,000, and each of the six finalists will receive $6,000 in prize money.

Submissions for novels in the Adult Novel Category published between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021, must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. (PST) on January 31, 2021. Entrants in the Adult Novel Category with novels slated to be published between February 1, 2021, and March 31, 2021, must submit advance copies of the novels no later than 11:59 p.m. (PST) on January 31, 2021.

Q: Am I eligible?

A: To be eligible, the author must be a first-time novelist. They must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada that has reached the age of majority in their province or territory. The novel itself must be a fictional work written by a single author, available in English. It must be professionally published between April 1 of the current year and March 31 of the following year. Q: Do I have to have a professional publisher?

A: Yes. Only entrants who are the professional book publisher of the submitted novel may submit a novel for the competition. For full guidelines, please visit here.

​Q: How do I submit?

A: To enter the competition, the entrant must submit a fully completed submission form for each novel it wishes to enter for consideration. There is no limit on the number of novels that may be submitted by an entrant. Only one submission form may be submitted per novel, and in the event that multiple submissions are received for a novel, only the first submission received will be considered.
