Adult Novel Category | Youth Short Story Category

Q: Am I eligible (Adult Novel Category)?
A: To be eligible, the author must be a first-time novelist. They must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada that has reached the age of majority in their province or territory. The novel itself must be a fictional work written by a single author, available in English. It must be professionally published between between April 1 of the current year and March 31 of the following year. Submit to the Adult Novel Category here.

Q: Do I have to have a professional publisher (Adult Novel Category)?
A:  Yes. Only entrants who are the professional book publisher of the submitted novel may submit a novel for the competition. Submit to the Adult Novel Category here. ​

Q: How do I submit (Adult Novel Category)?
A:  To enter the competition, the entrant must submit a fully completed submission form for each novel it wishes to enter for consideration. There is no limit on the number of novels that may be submitted by an entrant. Only one submission form may be submitted per novel, and in the event that multiple submissions are received for a novel, only the first submission received will be considered. Q: Am I eligible (Youth Short Story Category)?
A: To be eligible, the author must be between the ages of thirteen and seventeen. They must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada. The short story must be under 3,000 words; the single original piece must be a fictional work written by a single author, available in English. Only one entry per youth author is allowed. Signed consent from the author’s parent or legal guardian must be submitted along with the entry. Submit to the Youth Short Story Category here.

Q: Does my story have to be published (Youth Short Story Category)?
A:  No, it does not. If published, it must have first been published between January 1 and December 31 of the previous year. Submit to the Youth Short Story Category here.

Q: How do I submit (Youth Short Story Category)?
A:  To enter the competition, the author, their parent, legal guardian, or publisher must submit a fully completed submission form for the short story they wish to enter. Only one short story may be submitted per youth author. For each submission, the person submitting the entry must send electronic versions of a completed submission form (including parental consent) and a copy of the short story.​ Submit to the Youth Short Story Category here.
